Lancaster University is pleased to host a two-day workshop aimed at PhD students engaged in interdisciplinary marine studies, broadly conceived. All expenses (travel within the UK, food and accommodation) will be covered by an ESRC network grant.

The event will give students at any stage of their doctoral study the chance to share and gain feedback on their work from a select group of academics working on different aspects of marine social science and humanities. On the first day, there will be focused presentations and discussions around marine-based topics relating to fieldwork, policy interaction, media engagement and career advancement. The second day will focus upon the politics and potential of creative practice for engaging with the ocean. It will feature guest screenings and presentations from practitioners and academics using art as a form of intervention into oceanic politics.

Please note that the workshop is limited to 10 places. If you would like to attend, please could you register your interest by replying to John Childs (j.childs@lancaster.ac.uk) with a brief synopsis of your work. Those invited to attend will be sent further details later in the summer.
