Thèse (soutenue en 2022) : Le champ politique et gestion de l’eau le sud ouest états-unien.

Le XXe siècle a vu naître la prolifération sans précédent d’infrastructures et de technologies à grandes échelles pour gérer les ressources en eau. Alors que « l’ère des grands barrages » a pris fin dans les années 1980, les chercheurs observent de nouveau un « retour aux infrastructures » des systèmes hydriques, telles que les usines de dessalement de l’eau. Ma recherche examine la façon dont les villes côtières s’approprient l’océan via le procédé de dessalement pour permettre à leur population grandissante de « résister à la sécheresse ». J’utilise la sociologie de l’environnement, la sociologie économique et j’intègre des aspects d’écologie politique pour analyser les politiques et technologies émergentes d’approvisionnement en eau. Mon analyse vise à critiquer et à questionner les théories contemporaines du risque et de la politique environnementale, avec les idées de valorisation et de marché. En utilisant principalement des données ethnographiques et d’archives, j’examine les processus sociaux qui tournent autour de cette industrie en pleine croissance en me concentrant sur le cas du sud de la Californie.
