Water Resources Cluster Hire
East Carolina University invites applicants at the tenure-track Assistant Professor level within a growing cross-campus water resources cluster being led jointly by the Thomas Harriot College of Arts and Sciences and the College of Engineering and Technology. The cluster spans disciplines in the social and natural sciences as well as engineering. The new hires will be integral members of ECU’s emerging Water Resources Center, which is focused on providing resources and facilities to enhance transdisciplinary water research at the University.
One of the new tenure-track positions being sought to grow the cluster this year will be in the Department of Geography, Planning and Environment and will have a research emphasis in water policy and governance. Successful applicants will have a PhD in Geography, or a related field such as Planning, Community Studies, or Public Policy.
The preferred candidate for the Water Policy and Governance position will have expertise to investigate water policy, management, governance and planning from an intrinsically social science perspective. Applicants who can demonstrate novel approaches to working and interacting with the diverse actors that continuously recompose the hydrosocial landscape worldwide, including scientists and engineers, are encouraged to apply. Applicants should also communicate their interest and ability to apply these novel approaches to North Carolina policy, institutions, planning and politics.
